Aves is a sculptural and majestic table, refined yet light, slender at the edges and extended at the base, with a composed and balanced horizontal tension. It is a piece in which the volume is almost insubstantial, whilst the surfaces compose and support it as if it were a paper origami. It is a piece with carefully studied proportions, in which the form allows the material to take centre stage. Like a weighing scale, two symmetrical opposing wings hover and balance in the air, one on the left and the other on the right, whilst at the centre, that imaginary mirror plane becomes a physical component: a thin sheet of finely worked metal that divides the top into two mirror-image semi-ellipses and reflects the image of the base in a play of continuity.

The four marble slabs that make up the piece are enhanced by a grooved finish that is deepest at the centre and gradually fades towards the edges. This exquisite detail helps to emphasise the horizontal lines, but it is also what reveals the authenticity of the solid-carved marble, causing it to shimmer when struck by light. Aves is available in an elliptical version up to 4 metres in length, or a round version up to 2 metres in diameter. It is perfect for an exclusive residence, but also for sophisticated contract and office spaces.
